Office of the Year Awards

Prior to the ‘IWFM Impact Awards’, the ‘Office of the Year’ Awards began in 1971, with one winner, and four commendations. The awards recognised the “continuing evolvement of the office as an efficient, safe and pleasant place to work”, taking place every two years, before becoming an annual event from 1989 onwards.

1989 also marked the first time that a ‘Facilities Management’ (FM) award was included, for those who showed “a high level of excellence in the management of their facilities and support services”. In 1992 a new ‘Innovation’ accolade was added to the line-up and in 1995 a new ‘Green Award’ was included, which rewarded efforts “by the entrant to improve and contribute towards environmental issues”.

BIFM Awards

The first ‘BIFM Awards’ were held in 2001. Growing in stature year-on-year, the Awards are now very influential. They constantly evolve to mirror the FM sector, and their history charts the changing face of FM as it has evolved over the years. As the FM industry has transformed, as have the Awards categories.

Today, the IWFM Impact Awards are the standout Awards within FM. Winning is an exceptional achievement and is recognition of the great work which is going on every day across the profession. Entries come from all across the FM sector and beyond, and culminate in a prestigious sell-out Awards ceremony taking place in the Great Room, which is one of Europe’s largest banquet halls within the Grosvenor House, Park Lane, London with over 1,200 guests in attendance. .

But the Awards are so much more than the ceremony, our past winners act as a legacy for others to look to for inspiration and chart a history of how the FM profession has evolved.
